Manor Green Primary Academy’s Arts Award Presentation attended by Civic Mayor of Tameside Councillor
Manor Green Primary Academy in Denton recently hosted its very own Arts Award Presentation attended by the Civic Mayor of Tameside Councillor, Tafheen Sharif, plus local ward councillors.
The event celebrated the hard work of Year 3 pupils over the year, which has resulted in them achieving their Arts Award Discover.
Arts Award Discover is the start of the Arts Award adventure. It takes children and young people on an artistic journey as they explore the arts all around them, investigate different art forms, research an artist, and then share their discoveries with others.
Activities included working with professional artist Fabric Lenny. Over a five week period, he taught pupils how to use various skills within their artwork, from continuous line drawings to digital art.
Arts Award is vital in supporting young people to develop as artists and arts leaders within their communities. Tameside is committed to helping young people achieve their goals in the arts, providing opportunities and support for them to flourish and develop within their chosen artistic pathway.
Tameside Council’s Cultural Services’ mission, along with Arts Award and Arts Council England, is to support young people who want to deepen their engagement with the arts, build creative and leadership skills, and to achieve a national qualification.
Victoria Saville, Principal at Manor Green Primary Academy, said: “We are all incredibly proud of our year three pupils and their commitment to the arts over the year.
“It was a pleasure to host the Civic Mayor of Tameside Councillor, Tafheen Sharif, and local ward councillors at the event, showing their ongoing commitment to the arts.”
Manor Green Primary Academy is part of Focus-Trust, a charitable primary school trust based in the North West of England and West Yorkshire that aims to provide great schools at the heart of communities where children thrive, achieve, and succeed.
