Power UP invites fans of all ages and levels of experience on an interactive journey through the evolution of video games, from early pioneering consoles through to the latest in gaming technology. With an extensive collection featuring over 160 consoles - ranging from the Atari 2600 and SNES to the Switch and VR headsets – gamers can explore 50 years of video game progression at this spectacular display.

Showcasing hundreds of video games, there is something to suit everyone at Power UP as visitors can battle it out against friends, family and strangers in this exciting exhibition. Travel through the ages and compare the development of fan-favourite franchises from Mario to Sonic and Street Fighter to Halo.

Alastair Otto, Associate Commercial Director at the Science Museum Group, said: ‘Back for a fifth time, Power UP, has always been hugely popular with visitors and we’re delighted to announce the event has had its run extended until Monday 6 June. Bringing together iconic games from the last 50 years, Power UP offers our visitors the chance to discover the revolutionary advancements in technology and developments in storytelling that have shaped an industry and influenced wider popular culture. We’re thrilled that with the extension of Power UP even more visitors will now get to discover the very best of gaming throughout the decades.’

Discounted Power UP sessions will be available at the Science Museum’s Gaming Lates event on Wednesday 27 April. This special after-hours gaming extravaganza includes free activities, workshops, and an exciting line-up of talks. Hear from industry experts about the future of storytelling in gaming, sing your heart out with the video game choir or stir up competition in the pub quiz.

During the Power UP extension, the museum’s sensory-friendly, relaxed sessions will continue. Early Birds sessions will accommodate families who benefit from a quieter environment on Saturday 16 April and 14 May from 8.00, while Night Owls will be introduced for visitors 16+ on Saturday 4 June from 18.30.

Tickets to Power UP’s extension are on sale now.
