Do you know what Private Fostering is?
Are you looking after someone else’s child, or do you know someone who is?
Did you know that this could be private fostering?
Private fostering is when a child or young person under 16 years old (or 18 if they have a disability) is looked after for a period of 28 days or more by someone who is not a close relative, guardian or person with parental responsibility.
There are many different reasons why a young person may be in a private fostering arrangement but whatever the reason, we must be made aware.
Once notified, our Private Fostering Team works with the young person, their parents or carers and the private foster carer, to ensure the best possible arrangements are in place.
Find out more about private fostering and the support available on our website.
If you want to let us know about a private fostering arrangement, or you have more questions, you can also contact our Private Fostering Team by emailing privatefostering@devon.gov.uk or by calling 0345 155 1071.
