Edinburgh Zoo swings into spooky season as Halloween trail returns
Spooky season is in full swing at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland’s (RZSS) Edinburgh Zoo after the wildlife conservation charity’s Halloween trail opened to visitors this weekend (Friday 7 October 2022).
The Spooktacular! light trail has returned after its debut last year with new family-friendly frights, creepy crawlies and ghostly characters that come out at night while all the animals are tucked up in bed.
Locals and tourists are being encouraged to make the most of this unique opportunity as the Halloween trail will be the last light event at the zoo this year.
Lisa Robshaw, head of marketing and sales at RZSS, said, “With even more light trails in and around Edinburgh over the festive period, Halloween gives our charity the best opportunity to provide something special and exciting for local people and visitors from further afield.
“It is fantastic to be able to bring Edinburgh Zoo Spooktacular! back this year with our partners at NL Productions and there have been some scarily good reviews from opening weekend already.
“Events like this are important for RZSS because we can reach a whole new audience to help a world where nature is protected, value and loved by providing critical funds and experiencing a deeper connection with animals.
“If you are wondering how wildlife conservation fits into a Halloween theme, I would encourage you to book a ticket to come along and find out.”
The only other chance to visit Edinburgh Zoo in the evenings this winter will be for express Santa’s grotto experiences when the rest of the zoo will be closed.
Off-peak tickets for Edinburgh Zoo Spooktacular! are still available for select evenings from Wednesday 12 October. Find out more at edinburghzoo.org.uk/halloween.
