Halloween activity printable sheets for children

With Halloween decorations slowly filling up the shop many parents and educators are trying to find some fun Halloween-themed activities to do with their children.

With my background as a Nursery Nurse I have always really enjoyed creating my own activities to do with my children, this has often involved hours of coming up with activity sheets and drawing everything out. This year I have decided to take this love of creating activity sheets for children and create online activity sheets that parents/families/educators can download to do with their children at home. Hopefully you will find these useful and your children will have as much fun doing them as mine have :)

5 Halloween Themed Educational activities:

1. Halloween-Themed Word Search

My children really enjoy Word Search activities, so creating a Halloween-themed one is one of my first go-to activity ideas. Word searches are great at teaching children how to read and recognise familiar words, whilst also being lots of fun.

2. Halloween drawing activity for kids

Drawing is a nice, relaxing activity that we often enjoy doing as a family. You can create your own Halloween drawing activity at home by finding Halloween items at home and encouraging your child to draw them. I always love seeing how my children interpret items when they draw them for themselves.

I have created some pre-made Halloween drawing sheets that you can download here. Each sheet challenges kids to "Can You Draw A...", with a picture frame showing a Halloween item like a ghost, pumpkin, or bat, and a blank frame for them to draw their own version. These activity sheets are perfect for classroom activities, homeschooling, or some festive, screen-free fun at home!

3. Halloween Word Match Activity

Word match activity worksheets are perfect for helping kids improve their reading skills and having a Halloween one will help you all get into the spooky spirit! On one side of the paper, there are pictures of Halloween-themed items like pumpkins, bats, and spiders, and on the other side are the corresponding words. The goal is for kids to draw a line between the picture and the word, making it a fun way to reinforce early reading and vocabulary skills.

4. Halloween Scavenger hunt activity sheet

This is a great activity that you can do at home, on the run up to Halloween or on Halloween night itself. All you need is a clipboard and pen and you can set off around your neighbourhood and find as many items on the list. This activity can also work well at a Halloween Party or in a classroom.

This activity is great for children of all ages. Toddlers may point the items out to you or enjoy finding the picture and ticking the box. For children learning how to read this is a great opportunity to help their reading skills whilst having fun. For older children and adults you can make this a bit of a competition to see who can find all of the objects first.

5. Circle the right spelling Halloween activity sheet

This Halloween-themed activity sheet will keep your little ones entertained while boosting their spelling skills! Perfect for parents, teachers, or homeschooling, this engaging worksheet challenges kids to spot the correct spelling of spooky words like "witch," "pumpkin," and "ghost." Ideal for some screen-free fun!
