
Tripadvisor's trending destinations revealed for spring holidays
With almost three quarters (71%) of Brits planning trips this Spring, unsurprisingly, Easter week is one of the most popular times to travel.
Looking at the top trending destinations for the week of 7th - 14th April, beach trips are most popular, with seven out of the top 10 trending destinations for Easter week located on the coast.
Skegness, Lincolnshire, is the most popular seaside destination this Easter at No. 2, and the Channel Islands ranked high with St Peter Port, Guernsey at No. 3 and St. Helier, Jersey at No.6. Cornwall is also a top trending destination with Newquay ranking No. 5 and Falmouth No. 10. Scarborough is another beach to make the list at No. 8.
The Spring Travel Index uses a combination of demand and sentiment data to reveal Brits’ attitudes to travel over the next three months (March 1st - May 31st) - and where they’re heading off to.
Spending time with loved ones is a priority this Easter, with just under a third (29%) set to visit family and friends this spring. Reconnecting with family and friends is the second most popular factor that makes a trip memorable at 18%, with another 18% planning on attending a family reunion this spring.
Looking at accommodation, whilst people plan to visit friends and family, they are prioritising hotel stays (60%) with only 14% planning to stay with loved ones.
International travel is a priority this spring, with more than half of Brits (52%) looking to take trips abroad. Japan and Vietnam are trending destinations for Easter week, as well as the spring period as a whole.
This year Muslims are celebrating Ramadan throughout this same week, and Medina and Mecca are trending between 7th and 14th April, placing No. 6 and No. 10 respectively on fastest growing destinations specifically during this period.
