Santa themed sweet cones
We've been getting in the Festive spirit in the Banks household and I have been having lots of fun coming up with some Christmas-themed sweet cones, which were a huge hit at our school Christmas fete and will make some great gifts for family and friends. They also go really well with these Grinch sweet cones that I have made.
What you need to make Santa Sweet Cones
- Sweet cone bags
- White sweets - I think Marshmallows worked the best for us as the white colour really stood out. We also tried them with white jelly beans, which were really popular
- Pink Sweets - we used a mixture of pink marshmallows and pink shrimp sweets
- Red Sweets - We used a mixture of Jelly beans, gummy bears and strawberry straw sweets
- Stick on eyes
- A red pen for the noise.
How to make Santa sweet cones
- The first thing I put in the sweet cone was one marshmallow, this is for the tip of the Santa hat
- Next, I put in some red sweets for Santa's Hat. I probably filled about a third of the hat with red sweets
- A few white marshmallows or white sweets go in next for the brim of the hat. I didn't do a very big layer of this
- For the face, I used pink sweets. In these cones I used a mixture of pink marshmallows and pink shrimps.
- The beard is the last filling for the cones. I used white marshmallows are sweets for this too.
- I then closed up the sweet cone with a tie and turned the sweet cone upside down, so it was sitting on the widest part (the beard).
- To finish off Santa I stuck two self-adhesive eyes on the face and drew the red nose on just above the beard line with a red marker pen.
There you go, it's that simple! The most fiddly part for me was the Santa hat. That may have been because I couldn't find any small red sweets so I was trying to arrange the larger red sweets so they were all together.
These were certainly worth the effort though! I am really pleased with how they turned out and my children loved them too. I hope your children love them too. Homemade sweet cones are a lovely activity to do with children and they make great Christmas gifts too! If you do give them a go please do share them with us! You can find us on Instagram here
