Financial boost for Broadclyst football

One of the leading developers behind the Cranbrook expansion scheme has donated £650 to Broadclyst Youth Football Club’s Under 12s team.

Persimmon Homes South West handed over the cheque at the teams playing fields, with the funds going towards new kits for players, which will be emblazoned with the company’s logo next season.

The Under 12s team have been together since they joined as Under 6s and are about to enter into their first competitive league.

Broadclyst YFC was established in 1992 and is a non-profit organisation, with teams from the Under 6 age group all the way to the Under 18s, playing their matches at various pitches throughout the village.

All money received is put back into the teams to provide the best possible facilities and equipment for the players at the club. Their coaches give up their time and effort on a voluntary basis and their involvement is driven by the desire to enable the teams to really enjoy their football and to encourage a real team spirit in a safe environment.

Persimmon currently has high-quality properties for sale at two sites in the area – two and three-bed homes are available for purchase from £249,995 at Cherrywood Grange in Tithebarn and Galileo at Cranbrook, with five-bed properties also for sale at the former.

The five-star, Exeter-based developer donates £700,000 each year to good causes and much-valued organisations across Britain. Recent local recipients include Broadclyst Parish Council, Cranbrook Town Council, Hospiscare, and the English Riviera Airshow.

Commenting, Persimmon Homes South West Sales Director Stacey Harris, said:

“Persimmon has a significant footprint in Broadclyst so we were very happy to help out its youngest residents play the sport they love.

“As we did recently by supporting the Parish Council’s ‘Little Free Library’, we’ve deployed our Community Champions funding stream to add further improvements to the areas in which we develop, demonstrating our commitment to leaving a positive and lasting legacy.

“We hope the team enjoy their new kits and go onto become superstars in the sport.”

James Perryman – Broadclyst Youth FC’s Under 12s coach – added:

“We’re delighted to have received this kind donation from Persimmon – it is much appreciated by everyone at the club.

“This will fund new kits for our under 12s team for next season as they continue to develop their skills, learn team discipline, and – at the end of the day – have fun.”
