Times table grid tuff tray activity

My children are learning about their times tables at the moment, so I have been trying to come up with some more creative ways to teach them.

Today I decided to get out the tuff tray and whiteboard pens and draw up a times table grid. For some reason, the tuff tray seems to add an extra bit of fun to any activity. I could have just drawn this out on a piece of paper, but my daughter loved getting out the whiteboard pens and she really enjoyed wiping it all off when she's finished.

To set this up I simply created an 11x11 grid (drawing out all of the lines is probably the hardest bit about setting this up!) then wrote the numbers 1-10 along the top and down the left-hand side.

I then handed the pens over to my daughter who had a great time working it all out. It was really interesting how she quickly learned how to use the bits of the grid she had already completed to help her as the times tables got harder.

This was a great quick and easy activity that made learning a bit more fun. Save this activity for a rainy day and don't forget to check out all of our other activity ideas.
